Group working
|
Race to Learn provides a highly motivating real-life context for children to practise and develop the group-working skills they'll need in the classroom and beyond.
They form their own racing teams and work in sets of four or five on a variety of educational challenges.
First, the children consider why Formula OneTM racing is a team sport if only the driver gets in the car.
What do the other members of the team do?
|

Children learn to work together as a team
|
|
Then the children are introduced to the different roles within a group:
- The leader
- The scribe
- The mentor
- The reporter
Who does what?
They learn how much better they work as a team on a wide range of cross-curricular tasks when each performs their role effectively.
|

Children learn the skills associated with different roles within the group
|
|
To make this fun and interactive, children are invited up to the whiteboard and move the pink blocks onto the correct role.
So....
- Leader - guides team
- Mentor - inspires team
- Scribe - makes notes
- Reporter - takes key part in presenting ideas

Children learn how to get the most out of group work
