Case study

To get the formula right, the Race to Learn team has worked closely with teachers from several primary schools.  Race to Learn has been a resounding success in numerous student trialling sessions, for boys as well as girls, and for every kind of learner.

This video features the experiences of Class 6H from the Oakdale Junior School in Redbridge London.  Here's what their teacher, Dawn Hallybone, said about the software:

“I would recommend Race to Learn to other teachers because it’s team work, it’s video, it’s getting the children talking.

"When they’re working in a group, you’re giving them all the things they are interested in, you’re just giving them a real-life context for their learning.”

Read Dawn's blog post, F1 driver wanted, on recent work in her class with Race to Learn.  Here's a snapshot -

"This week in Literacy as part of our topic – Cars and Karting, Forces and Friction.  We looked at formal and informal writing and related it to the Race to Learn software that we are using.

This encourages the children to work in teams throughout the tasks. So far the teams have come up with names for their F1 teams, designed logos and have begun to work on a theme tune for their team."
